I agree. To be honest the rank and file of the NYPD are acting like thugs, protected by unions. I’d like to see them be more like firemen, putting the lives of innocents above their own. They have a difficult job but believe it or not it’s not the most dangerous. How about fishermen(127 deaths per 100k)? Police are 19 per 100k.
Anyone else decides to “not do the job” they lose the job.
The NYPD was doing their job in arresting Eric Garner. Yet they were roundly criticized for enforcing these types of misdemeanors.
Rather than write laws and not enforce them, perhaps the legislature should repeal those laws? Crazy idea, I know.
