Sarah Palin has sparked outrage by posting pictures on Facebook of her son standing on her dog.

Agreed. It was a perfect opportunity. Loving a child often means having to introduce changes in behaviour that the child may not be immediately receptive to. Caring about a child means that a parent must sometimes require that the child do things that he may not like, whether for his safety, the safety of others, or simply because of moral restrictions. That’s what being a parent is all about.
Dogs in good homes get very wimpy. Take my word for it. I take in rescue dogs - they enter intelligent, sly and stoic. They end up big babies, sleeping in our bed and crying and whining over every little thing. In that way, they are very much like humans. Anyone can see Trig’s dog is a well-fed, happy Black Lab.
Guess what else dogs have done since the domestication of the dog?
Biting children who scratch, pull ears, sit on them, ride them, hug them.
Why? To the dog’s mind, a warning nip is perfectly acceptable way to teach an erring “pup” how not to treat a dog.
Irresponsible parents then whine “I don’t understand why the dog “snapped for no reason”.
Responsible dog owners know that dogs need to be properly socialized around children, and children need to be properly socialized around dogs—and you don’t give a particular child unsupervised access to a particular dog (or vice versa) until that particular child (or dog) demonstrates that it understands acceptable human-canid relations.
Who has made that claim, besides you?
Black dog, white child. No issue. Reperations.
Who claimed that, besides you?
Because I have right wing values that would make yours look like a pink pantie wearing commie.
And those values include caring for animals that are in my household—caring for them in circumstances where they cannot care for themselves.
Anyone who teaches and praises their child that standing on a dog is ever a good idea, has something wrong with them.
THAT is never a good idea.
Especially with a mentally challenged child who might not get that you don’t stand on other dogs. What happens when a pit bull takes a bite out of her kid because he’s been taught they are playthings.
We see what your judgement is worth. If you don’t know that kids and dogs do this daily, there’s not a lot of hope for you.
Its not abnormal, cruel, abusive or anything else. Its a bear that barks. It’s not a chiuaua. Stick to fake outrage over her oil dealings or something tangibly plausible. Not this invented offense nonsense. Still pathetic but at least you’ll have a dogs back to stand on.
If you consider my opinions about whether she’d win a presidential election to be “sniping,” you have more problems than my comments. Let it go, Deacon... let it go.
Palin Derangement Syndrome. Your left headed brain is exploding. ROFL.
You are the one talking about it. Not me.
But, if it is OK...whats the problem?
Do you allow your children to use your dog as a step stool?
If so, lets get a picture up here so we can all enjoy it. If not, why not? Sarah says its OK, so it must be OK.
Lets go to the school in town with the special needs kids with our dogs and teach them its OK to stand on smaller animals.
That sounds like a great time.
My reaction is what it is today, remember, not everyone is as neurotic and anal as you seem.
First you claim that dogs *don’t* hide pain, and upon being corrected, you claim that dogs who *do* show signs of pain are being “wimpy” because they come from good homes?
How would you prefer a dog express pain? By putting their jaws around a child’s throat to correct it, as they would a naughty pup?
One cannot definitively claim that the dog is “happy” in that moment as the dog’s facial expression is not visible in the picture.
No, I consider your always sniping and digging and attacking Palin as sniping, just as you are doing on this thread.
Who is making the argument that it is “okay”?
My derangement is based on the fact that you people, supposedly Christian, family values folks think its OK to have your kids use your dogs for step stools.
Can you post some pictures of your kids standing on your dogs? Because I guess its me. I always thought we should treat our animals in a humane way, taking care of those in situations where they cannot take care of themselves.
What other animals is it good to stand on? Cats? Goats? Guinea Pigs?
You see, its not about Sarah.
He’s showing his judgement he is proud of by attacking one of his few allies on this topic. Thats all.
