If an equivalent percentage of Americans were to die in a modern civil war, the number would be somewhere around 8M.
As you say, let’s not do that.
In a financial collapse / SHTF scenario, on a national scale, the number of dead would far exceed 8 million. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near a major city.
