NYC is a beautiful wonder, a monument to human excellence, teeming with people who love life.

Thank you for saying that. I recently started working there and I find that to be true. It can be a scary place to people who don't go there often but you really do warm up to it as you learn your way around and then you realize what a vibrant place it is.

As for New Year's Eve. Not a fan. It's amateur night for inexperienced drinkers to over-imbibe and do stupid things.

For the past 15 years, I order in chinese food and stay home binge-watching movies (12 Angry Men on right now). Around midnight, I pop open a decent bottle of champagne and go to bed - Moet and Chandon this year.

Tomorrow, I stay home in my pajamas and catch up on some reading.

Yes....it's Barry Manilow. However, I think it's a pretty good New Year's Eve song. He premiered it many years ago on 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'. So here is...

It's Just Another New Year's Eve.

My parents got married on New Year’s Eve, but if they went out it was always early to “avoid the idiots”, as my mother always put it (referring to drunk drivers). Have had some fun family get-togethers then.

Hubby’s father died on NYE, so he was happy to switch over to the “in-law’s anniversary” idea. When we lived in Colorado and were home instead of with family, used to go to a friend’s NYE party, but didn’t feel any strong need to find a replacement when we moved away.

Now we usually stay up watching movies with the kids, although not necessarily until midnight.

Do like the time off from work and having dinner together on New Year’s Day — black eyed peas and cornbread, often as not. Nice break from all the Christmas decadence (we often observe Advent and then celebrate during the 12 days of Christmas).
