I remember digging in the couch and chair for lost change to buy a gallon of gas for my mini bike back in the early 70’s. Price back then was .25 a gallon.

I used to save the sump drain fuel from my flight school assigned plane to pour into my Yamaha 250 Enduro back in 1978. I flew mostly at night. Very few people would notice. Sometimes the line fuel truck driver would top me off if he was feeling generous.
When I was done flying I would steal fruit and avocados from trees on my way home so I could eat. Spent the day sleeping on the beach.
Life was better with less.

I remember everyone chipping in a quarter (5 of us girls) and having enough to put 5 gallons of gas in the tank when we borrowed our dads’ car. This was late 60’s early 70’s.
