The article was published in 2000, not 2014. In 2000, when the article was written, Lachele Covington was 20.

Since you mention Tawana Brawley, I trust that you realize that Bill Cosby was one of the first celebs to publically support the Tawana hoax. He was front and center with Sharpton, Maddox, and Mason as they destoyed the good names of a lot of people.
Who specifically is Gloria Allred representing, so far I have heard of one out of the dozens.
Wilt claimed to have bedded 20k women, which comes out to about 27 years of his life - give or take.

Yes, you are correct that the date on the online version of the article is 1998. Perhaps it is a typo, because it seems inconsistent with everything else that is out there.
