I've already taken Cambria/Cayucos/Morro Bay. They are over-rated and their freedoms are now regulated and strangled out of existence to a degree that makes L.A. look like the real America and Cambria/Cayucos/Morro Bay look like East Germany except in visuals. Beauty is only skin deep.
And remember San Luis Obispo -- a real trendsetter, setting the leftist liberal agenda for the rest of the state. IT was the first city in the United States to ban smoking not just in restaurants, but in bars. I was THERE. And SLO County, where for years now it has been ILLEGAL for business owners to give customers "free" plastic or paper bags for their purchases for several years. "Beautiful" SLO on the cutting edge again ... of course, that kind of tyranny outlawing sensible plastic bags going to be true all over California.
In that deal of LA/San Bernardino/Riverside for Cambria/Cayucos/Morro Bay, YOU would be getting the short end of the stick. I've lived for long periods of time in BOTH regions. I know of what I speak.
well, I remember the good old SLO county sheriff...
who, to prove his crime-fighting bonafides,
would regularly “discover” and “raid” that DEN of INIQUITY, the Nipomo Mesa Cock Fighting Arena....
firmly arresting a handful of (mostly) Mexican celebrants...
but only when he had channels 3, 6, and 12 with the SLOTT, SMT, and FCTPR newspapers all lined up there to take his picture with his Strong Arm of the Law securing the necks of a couple of poor spectators
of course, when the re-election campaign was safely in the Bag, the sheriff promptly lost all knowledge or recollection of the existence of Popper’s Arena (after all, it was easy to ignore if you want to sit on your butt and do nothing for your paycheck. it was only the most popular site in the area... with permanent spectator stands, permanent buildings, plus a very large parking area and dozens of beer, taquila, taco and burrito and chili vending trucks). That was in the 60’s.
Interestingly, it seems nothing has changed in the past half century (except the birds have moved a couple miles closer into the city (Santa Maria))...
