More than 1 million of the affected units were sold in the U.S. in stores and online including Home Depot, HD Supply and Amazon.com.

If you wake up bright blue & dead, your "recalled" MiC Kidde detector didn't work.

As best I can figure they look like these (two out of the three models recalled).

Actually you don’t turn blue from carbon monoxide poisoning. It is one of the things that makes low level CO poisoning difficult to recognize.

Your hemoglobin remains bright red.

But of course once your heart stops beating your hemoglobin will settle to the lowest part of your body and that part will turn blackish blue and the higher parts will turn pale.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

Just the illusion of coverage and security... kind of like Obamacare.

Bought one through Amazon. They automatically refunded my money before I even knew it was recalled. When I went to hard-wire install it, it didn't work properly and it set off the detector on the other level of our home.

Working normally, if a Kidde detector goes off on one level, then it communicates with detectors on all levels and they go off too. The defective one kept signaling the other alarms to go off. I pulled the hard-wire and ran it on battery, but knew something was wrong and thought it was something in the house. Then Amazon gave me a refund. Installed a new Kidde and it works fine.

Thanks for posting this. Mine were made in 2007 with similar but not the same model numbers. I did check and I’m glad I’m in the clear, but I know that it’s just the luck of the draw. I wouldn’t have known except for your post.
