I worked for 20 years for one of the world's finest, and most famous, hospitals.I learned a thing or two about physicians and surgeons, medical practice and the rarefied world of big time medicine. One thing I learned is that a physician or surgeon doesn't last long in that rarefied world unless he/she has something going on between the ears.

IIRC,Dr Oz is (among other things) a chest surgeon at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, also one of the finest, and most famous, hospitals in the world.Given that fact it absolutely bewilders me to contemplate that he'd be involved in things like this that don't have serious science backing them up.To me it's a bit like discovering that Bill Gates shoplifts from Walgreens.

Dr Oz only visits his old hospital once a week. The chief of surgery there has stated he would not recommend having Oz operate on you. Why? Because Dr Oz only works once per week. You must keep your skills up and stay abreast of changing techniques, the guy said.

Dr Oz is indeed a highly intelligent, type A overachiever. He’s also heavily influenced by his new agey wife. Most of all, Oz is in love with celebrity, and himself as a sort of messiah.
