The last time and only time I was surprised or disappointed by a stage/screen/tv star was when I learned to my dismay that Rock Hudson ( where the term “a man’s man”) I had apparently misunderstood or misapplied. I knew that in about 1961, when did you learn it?
And he wasn't a serial rapist, just homosexual.

He died of AIDS at the age of 59. That was some time ago, before better drugs were in use.
