Man, I loved this song in the 70s as a little girl. Makes me so happy to hear it.

Wow, what a touching tribute, and what a nice guy Tony Orlando seems to be.

Fun to learn and share with FReepers. :)

BINGO.
It’s great that somebody picked up on that and actually put it in a funny move. What a riot.

I love it and also believe in what he’s singing about.

Im going to take a wild guess that you were also crazy about The Captain & Tennille and Love Will Keep Us Together. :)
Well, bith WERE #1 for the whole year. I think the Captain and Tennille piece is almost a Platonic example of a perfect pop tune. Hooks everywhere, infectious tune, clean pop sound, cute but not particularly deep lyrics, fun.
If you look at some of the Yu Tube videos of true live performances (e.g. Midnight Special), you can see how talented they both were, with Dragon tracking half a dozen keyboards and his then devoted wife handling two while singing. She also looks like she means what she's singing, and is having a great time.

For a long time I thought the lyrics were, “Tie a yellow gibbon by the old oak tree”, a follow up to “Muskrat Love”

OK, now heres another one (the 70s were a fun time in a lot of ways) - Neil Diamond.
READ the lyrics of his hits. No one ever complained about him, because it was soft adult comtemporary, but songs like "If You Know What I Mean" and "Desiree" make me think that Neil is the kind of guy who I wouldn't trust around my children.
He does get the most people misunderstand his lyrics. I thought that "Forever in Blue Jeans" was "Reverend Blue Jeans" or possibly "Rebel in Blue Jeans" ... either works.

I'd rather have my head shaved and be buried in center field at Yankee Stadium wearing a "Boston Strong" T-shirt than ever have to hear that song again.
Look up what Dave Barry has to say about Neil Diamond, particularly "I Am, I Said".

I was in the USAF, stationed in Asia when this came out. I hated the song then and I hate it still.

I didn’t favor the song because it seemed to be about a guy getting out of prison. I wondered what his crime was because he went away for three years.

She came across as pretty special to me.
If you have a link, I’d like to see a YouTube example of Daryl doing his thing on half a dozen keyboards. Sounds awesome.

How about "Cracklin' Rosé" (1971)? It sounds like a paean to a bottle of wine.

Look what your thread launched. Lots of fun.
It’s nice to share good stuff like this and get away from the political angst every once in a while.

Smiling. :) Definitely fun to get away from the political once in a while. Only so much BO one can take.

I'm going with he was falsely accused and his girl stood by him. ;)
