I heard in high school that the Mustang’s Merlin engine had so much torque that the plane would flip over sideways if the throttle were not carefully eased open during takeoff.

Anyway, we need the A-10. For decades to come.

He went more than just sideways - picture a block of wood stuck on a spinning drill press bit. That's pretty well how that went. He had outstanding reflexes and discipline, juggling the throttle, stick & pedals without wiping out. People on the ground were rather entertained by that incident - he wasn't.
