As a collegiate sports photographer I agree with field hockey. Great sport when played well.

Women’s Lacrosse simply sucks. The refs destroy the game.

And field hockey uniforms are wonderful. This ain’t your grandma’s field hockey.

My daughter started at goal for Washington College here in Maryland for her first two years of college. She was a very aggressive goalkeeper. Since I had played ice hockey I trained to her to be more like a ice hockey goalie, cutting down angles, using her stick on the ankles of screeners etc. She made all conference second team in her sophomore year. Unfortunately, her aggressive goal keeping resulted in a couple of concussions and shoulder surgeries which made her decide to switch to lacrosse in the fall instead of field hockey and she played soccer in the spring. She played both of those sports her junior and senior years, lettering in both.

I never got lacrosse. At least girls lacrosse. Very boring. Most of the time they spend around the goal just passing the ball around. And the goalkeeper rarely makes a save.

I used to make movies documenting the season for each of the sports she played and I’d make a copy for each team member. The school liked it so much after her freshman year they gave me a press pass. When I did the lacrosse movie the first year I actually included a “special feature” using Arlo Guthrie’s ‘Ring-around-the-rosie Rag” which really was about my disdain for the sport.
