A procedural maneuver by two tea party senators gives 23 Obama nominees, some highly controversial, an unexpected chance for confirmation in the last hours of the 113th Congress.
Thanks to an unexpected legislative maneuver orchestrated by Sens. Ted Cruz (R) of Texas and Mike Lee (R) of Utah, Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D) of Nevada got two extra days he needed to try to move a slate of 23 presidential nominees, some strongly opposed by Republicans, before the 113th Congress ends this week and Democrats lose their majority.
Republicans had blocked these nominees for months and had expected to run out the clock. But the surprise weekend session, during which the Senate passed the budget deal on Saturday, gave Senator Reid an opening, and he seized it.
The surgeon general nominee previously blocked will be confirmed due to missteps, said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) of South Carolina on Saturday, according to CQ Roll Call. I havent seen Harry Reid smile like this in years. I dont like it one bit.
Since Democrats changed the rules on most confirmations last year, it only takes a majority vote to approve nominees (the exception is nominees for the Supreme Court).

Cruz had nothing to do with those appointments, nothing.
The CSM is simply carrying out instructions to perform a hit on Cruz and it won’t work.
Don’t worry about it. Cruz is bigger than they are.
I like Cruz, but not a fan of him having presidential aspirations at this timeJust out of sincere curiosity, do you have a better candidate in mind than Cruz or is there some vulnerability you see in him?
Krauthammer was just on Fox News REPEATING AND PROMOTING this lie. Krauthammer is NOTHING more than a mouthpiece for the GOPe and THE GOPe FEARS TED CRUZ mightily. It’s clear that Ted Cruz is taking the right actions.
It’s funny how the MSM is coming out and admitting that these nominees are radical leftists. The faggot in chief nominated them. The dhimmicrats are voting for them, yet somehow it’s all the fault of Ted Cruz.
I can't wait until the contacts for the new Senators is published. :)
I think he’s better off in the Senate for now. Perhaps a VP for first go around. Perhaps if he builds a bigger coalition next year then remote maybe. I mean if he’s on the ballot for Pres I’ll vote for him. Not like Christie or Jeb who I would simply never vote for. I would write in Hillary before Jeb or Christie.
Who would I like? Scott Walker ... Go ahead and flame away that he’s so RINO. He’s proven effective, and has brushed off the Liberals and he knows how to run a results oriented government.
I was listening to Ted Cruz on Hannity’s radio show this afternoon. Go, Ted Go! He must run for President in 2016. He will win if he runs!
Krauthammer and George Will sucked right into it.
This is garbage! Reid has stalled on every bill. If he wanted to bring these appointments, he would have. They are so controversial, he waited til right before the break. It was planned long before Cruz and Lee tried to hold Republicans accountable!
“...Scott Walker ... Go ahead and flame away that hes so RINO....”

He’s PRO-AMNESTY, that makes him a non-starter to many of us. If our country is going to be destroyed, it’s better to have its destruction done at the hands of a ‘RAT instead of at the hands of a Republican.
Every single one of them are pro-amnesty. It’s that they want the loop holes and an honest effort at adhering to the laws that’s holding them up.
Yes he’s pro-amnesty, no he’s not That type of pro-amnesty. So when you point fingers at pro-amnesty, point at all of then, cruz, palin, et al. They’re all pro-amnesty under the right conditions.
Bad chess move. Cant damn his intentions. A learning experience for a great young senator who puts it out there. Not like a young senator Bamma who voted present Cruz will get it out of his system BEFORE his election to the Oval Office.
Wouldn’t 0 just have made recess appointments? Hell, he did that when Congress broke for lunch.
