Morning With the Q&R Gang! December 8, 2014

Formerly the "Fans of Quinn and Rose Discussion" thread, our group been meeting here since 2008. We still hold out hope that our favorite talk show hosts will come back on the air but, whether they do or not, our friendly group will still meet to start the day. Prayers and good “no pain” thoughts going up for Mrs. P6...dental work is NO fun.

Did you do your Snickerdoodles yet? I promise to dig out & post my recipe...the trick to making them fancy is the stamper thingy....

This week is going to be be crazy and bittersweet, as probably next week (other than some baking & CHRISTMAS cards) I’ll be bored. Maybe my house will become SUPER CLEAN and I’ll clean out closets and drawers and... I’ll have ALL this time because I found out Friday the suspicions my co-worker and i had came to fruition...our place of employment will be closing at the end of the month (Merry Christmas!) and w/our inventory dwindling (seasonal) THIS is probably my last official (parttime) week. Not sure if they will “need” us during liquidation sale, as fixtures, parts dept (odd ball things) will all go. Been there 11 years.

So...in August I became a PA crime stat (when our house was broken into to)...now I’m soon to be an unemployment stat too...(I guess next Monday I’ll file...gotta investigate that)....can’t I ever be a “won the Lottery” stay?!?!?

And now for today’s laugh.
I emailed my RINO rep. Mike Kelly protesting any vote to retain Boehner as speaker. Read his hilarious response below:

The House Republican Conference re -elected Speaker Boehner by voice vote on November 13, 2014. The only nominees on the ballot were Speaker John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. There was no organized opposition within the Republican Party against Speaker Boehner’s candidacy , though Members will have the chance to formally vote on the Speakership in January on the House floor.

During t he 112 th and 113 th Congress, under the leadership of Speaker John Boehner, we were able to change the conversation in Washington, where the talk is now about spending reductions and job creation, instead of spending increases. While more must be done, our recent successes were made despite a do-nothing Senate that has r outinely r efused to pass b udget s and a President who thinks more government spending is the answer to our economic recovery.

As Speaker Boehner has said time and again, Washington has a spending p roblem, not a revenue problem. As we celebrate the gains of the midterm elections, the new 11 4 th Congress must stand united in our common cause to end Washington’s fiscal irresponsibility. At the same time, we must remain true to conservative principles.

Thanks for the concern. Mrs p6 is fine it’s just something we’ve been putting off for YEARS! Now it HAS to be done. Yesterday was the first of many trips. It will probably go on through February. The dentist is trying to save as much as he can but it’s tough and taking a lot out of her.

Meanwhile we are so sorry to hear of your job. You have mentioned it but it’s never pleasant. FWIW my station is all but done and we are expecting MAJOR changes after the first of the year. Probably all automated. There are less than 16 working here now including air and sales. That is down form over 50 just a short time ago.

That’s one of the reasons I took my SS.

So Gruber is before Congress today. Could be interesting but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Did anyone else see the report that ISIS claims to have a radioactive device already in place in Europe? Rome? Paris? London? Weren’t there a lot of radiation oriented workers on that missing Malaysian jet?

Thanks for update on Mrs P6...here’s hoping your dentist can fix what needs fixed quickly and painlessly...sorry again to hear she is going thru so much :(

Next week will be my last week (unless they give me liquidation sale hrs). Never a good time to lose a job, but I’ll have two in college next year (youngest will be a freshman, and one a senior).

We have to fill out FAFSA and the apply for loans. FAFSA (we qualify for NO assistance in the past) is based on previous years income, so I wonder how NO income (other than unemployment) for me will affect boys’ college financing. Both will be in Engineering programs. How do some get boatloads of money to be in Womyns Study programs, and a kid in HS honors program looks to get NO help going into a STEM major....I know the answers already...that’s why I’m a FReeper.

Come on PA lottery.
