Our Drill Sergeants at Fort Knox (1969) were as tough as nails.SSG Freuhauf had done tours in Korea and Vietnam and SGT King had just finished his second tour of Vietnam.

OTOH,I've heard it often said that Marine DI's are the biggest pansies you'll ever see.

Our Drill Sergeants at Fort Jackson (1971) were also Korea and Nam Vets. One chewed on garlic cloves when he got in our faces. LOL

From the looks of that video it seemed the USMC D.I.s were more roid-raging fratboy douchebags doing not much more that hazing of pledges.

My DI’s at Knox were too, GSC... E5-E6 all multi tour VN, E7 Korea then VN.

The younger 11B were looking for a little vacation time in a training unit before heading back and the old guys (some with crippling wounds) were finishing out careers as DI’s.

C-12-5, right off Wilson Rd. in the WWII 2 story barracks.

“Grass Drills” in the big gravel lot.
