I have a home defense shotgun, a Maverick 88, next to my bed, but I would like to also have a handgun, for more immediate defense in parts of the house other than my bedroom.
I want to spend as little money as possible for a handgun that will stop an intruder, or at least slow him down so I can get to my shotgun, but will offer the least possibility of firing accidentally. When I add that last part, I'm thinking of those videos we've all seen with a LEO demonstrating firearm safety and the handgun fires inadvertently.
Thank you.
Which is further reduces the number of shots available to you.
I like both for shooting, but when I need personal defense, I want as many shots as I can reasonably carry. I don’t know how many are there and I don’t think they are going to hold still and let me take my time.
Get some formal instruction and go to a range that rents guns. Try different guns till you find one that works for you, and allows you to shoot accurately.
Only hits count when you need to shoot, caliber, velocity, magnum, hollowpoint, etc. mean nothing. It is all about hitting your target.
Good points. TY.
cheap and effective
Thank you. Looks like it just might work for me. I have sent the link to a local friend who is an FFL.
You’re welcome.
I went to Atwoods today and they had several handguns in the .38 to .45 range. The one that fit my hand the best was The Judge .410/.45, the full size one.
So, as soon as I have enough money saved up to buy one, that’s my choice.
The distance I might need to hit something is about 20 to 25 feet. The Judge will be great at that distance.
Mine, even with the shorter barrel, is very accurate at that distance. I hope you enjoy the gun.
Thank you.
