Drenching rain will fall on much of California through Tuesday night, bringing some relief to the ongoing drought and raising the risk of flash flooding.
While a series of storms have brought rain to parts of northern and central California over the past few weeks, Tuesday's storm will bring the first significant rain event for Southern California since the spring.
Some rain moved over part of the state on Sunday ahead of this week's storm, giving a preview of what is to come.

California: the land of hysterical Luddites.
It pours, man it pours.

Big news in SoCal.
Local station reporting on a fallen tree.
Its raining here right now but its definitely NOT pouring..but hey, anything to keep those cockroach Ferguson protestors off the streets here is always a good thing
Out of work, I’m out of my head
Out of self respect, I’m out of bread
I’m under loved, I’m underfed
I wanna go home
It never rains in California, but girl, don’t they warn ya
It pours, man, it pours
No rain = Climate change.
Rain = Climate change.
I sure do miss the days when we didn’t any weather. Before climate change made water fall/not fall from the sky.
so what day will Al Gore and John Kerry arrive in Cally to perform there “I Told U So” speech.
weather channel needs to send Al Roker there so millions will see him wash away in the flood. kinda like when Wilma almost blew him off a balcony on fifth ave(Naples.Fl)

They must bide their time and hope for a strong winter season. Outside of that, they are screwed.
I’m a little surprised anyone remembers. It was a long time ago.
Fires were not too bad this year.
Lingering drought with Flash Flood Warnings in the same sentence. That’s California. We have a storage problem not a water shortage.
you think this a preview of the 2015 California winter?
Which is why our Dear Governor LoonBeam Geezer keeps agitating for millions more to move in!
Let's pour gas on the fire!
Good news. I like my Cali artichokes, almonds, etc.
Was he skinny when he nearly blew off the balcony?
Let us all rejoice in the rain. God has heard the prayers of the good people of California, which there are still many, and brought down healing rain.
I am happy for them.
But, it would be funny just to see Roker over-react if it is not the torrential downpour that gives his station ratings.
Rain makes me so happy. It is a blessing here in the Sonoran desert.
