I would dump FireFox and use Chrome...I stop using FireFox after version twenty something...they keep updating it - but there are certain features that do not work well with websites...I have it as a Browser - but I don’t use it...nor do I use IE....so far - I’ve had nothing but success with Chrome - but if you use it - you need to secure it and turn a bunch of stuff off so it does not track and store what you do...session cookie theft can lead to problems...just my observations over the last year...

That version works on my wife’s computer with 8.1. You might try Pale Moon, a slimmed down version of Firefox.

You may try either stopping & restarting your firewall, or rebooting.

My firewall sometimes blocks updated programs from accessing the internet. Usually it asks if it should be allowed, but occasionally that dialog box does not show, and the program just hangs up waiting to get on line.

Win 8.1 user here. I use Pro at work, Enterprise on my VMs, and Home Premium at my home office. Firefox works just fine for me.

Where are you trying to go that you’re getting these errors?

I have 8.1 and switched from Firefox to Waterfox early this year. It has been great. It looks and feels identical but works so much better.

While you smart PC people are here; I thought there was a free version of Malwarebytes, but all I found was what turned out to be a ‘free trial’ version.

Now they’re saying my ‘free trial’ is up and I must buy Malwarebytes to continue.
No matter how many ‘free versions’ I download, it always comes up,’your free trial is up’ and it no longer works.

Thanks in advance

Might want to try to totally remove it and start fresh. I have been using Chrome for a while and have had far fewer problems than when i was using FF.

Use Internet Explorer. Microsoft products are designed to work together. Why would you want to want to use Fire Fox products when their developers are so anti-conservative?

Did you get the help you needed?

I have used FF for a long time, from W/98 to XP to Vista to W/8.1 and now run it on Windows 10 preview, and it was compatible with them all. What it sounds like however is that you have a Internet connection problem.

Can you connect with Internet Explorer?

Get Firefox 33 here>>> http://www.softexia.com/internet-tools/browsing/firefox-33/

Install over Firefox 34. Yes you will keep all bookmarks but you can back them up anyways. Then be sure to turn off automatic updates via>>>>>>

tools (on firefox browser)>>>
options >>>>
advanced tab on far right>>>>
turn off updates

****** I did all this the other day because Firefox 34 is not compatible with Flashblock. So I will use #33 until this is resolved
