I don’t equate looking sullen with being falling down drunk.

I don't equate paparazzi snaps of an 18 yr old college student at a private party to be the equivalent of appearing as representative of the WH and America's first family in a longtime presidential Thanksgiving custom, silly or not.
30 minutes of being polite and playing the game of looking interested in Thanksgiving, not eye rolling and grimacing, is a small price to pay for living in the lap of taxpayer funded luxury beyond most peoples wildest dreams
My teenage kids volunteer to light the National Christmas tree and look happy to be there doing it

There is a big difference between a college student in a private moment and teenagers, appearing on the stage with their father, for whom they were showing utter disrespect.Obama’s policies appear to be as much a failure at home as iin politics.

Having lived through the adolescence of two daughters, I can attest to the fact that ALL teenagers "sullenly scowl" when forced to appear together with their parents in public. It's a mixture of embarrassment and humiliation.
They grow out of it. Mostly.
