I want to make sure my boys are not beholden to, nor complicit in perpetuating, gender-normative (and/or hetero-normative) social constructions …That is the only “construction” that a stable society consists of. The too-often-repeated “alternatives” are what kill societies. It sure is funny that the problem of women being kidnapped (which happens too often in real life) and good men going to rescue them is somehow the “wrong message”, because societally-emasculated men are certainly not going to be the first line of counterattack never mind defense.
