I’ve seen other surveys claiming Mexico has taken the lead from us.

Does Mary Landrieu count as a country? Surely, she's big enough for her own zip code.

It would be interesting to see the male/female trends. I happen to think many women are more unhappy than ever because they’ve lost their way trying to compete with and be like men. Wonder if that translates into overeating as I believe women’s overall health has declined.

In 2003, the first time I went back to Việt Nam I saw only a tiny number of fat Vietnamese, only government workers and, of course, freigners.
By 2011 there were a couple of fat children in Cam Đự́c where I stay and too many fatsos in Sài Gòn though still not more than 10-15%. This year Sài Gòn looks like an American city of only a few years ago. Diabetes is also skyrocketing. It is not pretty.

Once upon a time, she was not bad looking as I recall. Quite a few return trips to the buffet line ago.

Why rank by absolute numbers instead of by percentage of total population? A casual glance makes it look like our obesity rate is eight times the second place country. Notice with the numbers reported this way Australia and the UK don’t even make the top ten when I suspect their obesity percentage is close to ours.

I will spend a week or two overseas and the first thing I ask myself when I get off the airplane in the U.S. is “Where did all these fat people come from?”
