We’re dropping cable and phone this Christmas. I plan getting a Roku.
Before getting that Roku, look into alternatives. I have a Roku, as well as Apple TV and Sony Blu-Ray pucks. The Roku had few offerings and bad control, as well as bad video. Apple TV has far more offerings and better control features and options. The Sony Blu-Ray device also is far better than Roku, offering more content as well as great streaming features (for Android devices). I rarely use the Roku anymore.
Roku’s are great.
The only catch is to make sure you have the fastest Internet speed as possible.
That way you can watch Movies/TV/etc... and still surf the web without any drops.

Look into getting a digital Antenna too. That way you can watch your locals for free. They are easy to install and the picture looks a lot better too.
