I thought I’d heard that Governor Eyepatch had assumed room temperature. Is this incorrect?

Yes, Governor Eyepatch has, indeed, assumed room temperature. He didn’t even become a Walker, since his girlfriend shot him in the head after Michonne skewered him through the heart with her saber.

However, if you note carefully, that Steyr AUG was his favorite weapon while he was a governor. Then his town fell, he shot all his own people, and suffered a nervous breakdown.

Sometime later, we see him stumbling around unshaven and nearly dead, which he’s apparantly been doing for two months. At this point, he has no possessions whatsoever except his knapsack and his nickel-plated Beretta 92.

In the end, he befriends three girls in an apartment house, recovers himself, gives himself a shave and a haircut, and, over time, gradually becomes head of a tent city via assassination and treachery.

At last, he attacks the prison once again, and, lo and behold, he’s somehow found that Steyr AUG again. Possibly his former associate from earlier days was holding it for him.

In any case, he does (did) love that Steyr AUG, and was clutching it in his hand when he rode into the prison both times.

It was certainly a high point of the series when Michonne stabbed him through the heart; it’s just a shame someone didn’t get him before he chopped Hershel. I liked Hershel.

This second battle of the prison is where he finally gets chopped - in the middle of last season.
