So anyhow, cheer up... we never were supposed to put our hopes in Caesar. We had the good fortune of enhanced versions of Caesar in the past, due to the unique historical legacy of America. Various flavors of Christianity were the glue that put it together. De Tocqueville, for one, bore testimony to the America of his day as having the soul of a church. But as they say, God has no grandchildren. Everyone must believe for himself; the children live or perish based on what they do with their own sins.

Once we lower our expectations of Caesar, then there is room to cheer the work of God from day to day, which is the attitude God wants to see in His children. I see a lot of potential room for evangelism, which won’t be easy but will be worthwhile.
