Good question. I suppose the easy answer as to “why” is that her parents were star-struck fools. But no answer to that “WHY” question changes WHAT Cosby apparently did to her and why she was so confused afterwards She was a 15 year old child, and Cosby apparently raped her after administering hypnotic drugs that distorted and/or partially eliminated her memory of the event.
Administration of hypnotic drugs was apparently part of Cosby’s M.O. according to all of the other accounts. That and taking advantage of his super-stardom status and approximate 20 year age difference with most victims to win their confidence and manipulate them.
I find little reason to doubt the allegations that he was a power-crazed, sex-obsessed, lecherous man.
I’m just saying that there were plenty of other people involved, besides the female victims, who could have done something to stop it.
