All this “genius” business makes me puke.
If these “geniuses” are SOOOOOOO smart that ‘average’ people can’t understand them, you’d think that:
1. They’d pick up on that immediately
2. They’d be SMART enough to figure out HOW to effectively communicate with those of “lesser” intelligence.
Ya think?
Every time I hear someone being called a genius, it means they’re probably a dunce who is faking ‘smart’ in order to manipulate those around them.
Joethedrummer, you are so right about that!
I teach kids of all ages (bass, guitar, drums, piano, and voice), and some of my kids have “Special Needs”.
I’m a pretty smart cookie (A FReeper, no less!) and yet I am able to communicate some very sophisticated concepts to a first-grader (Like the difference between Major and minor, note values, and the Ancient Greek modes, which sometimes leads to a discussion of Pythagoras’s contributions to music as well as geometry!)
One little girl didn’t understand what the lyrics to “Amazing Grace’ meant. The instant I started explaining Repentance and Redemption, she said “Like the Grinch?”
Yep...just like the Grinch! :-)
It is amazing what even children will understand if you are straight with them! :-)
