Word For The Day, Tuesday November 18, 2014
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
aptonym
-n
A name that fits a person's nature or occupation, like Jane House for a real estate agent.
la botana [boh-TAHN-ah]
-n
snack, appetizer
El letrero sobre la puerta dice Botanas y Refrescos.
The sign over the door says Snacks and Soft Drinks.
TheWon is such a great aptonym
As he sees life as all about him.
A narcissistic leech
We can certainly impeach
Though it might put us out on a limb.
I can’t spell for beans this morning either. I blame frozen hands. Hemorrhoidectomy.
Our high today isn’t supposed to top freezing either. Another treadmill day, not my favorite way to exercise.
Yeah - I’m going to agree Barak Hussein is an appropriate aptonym for a self-professed Christian in the White House fully supporting the American and British ideals of an independent, self-reliant, loving and moral nation living up to the ideals of the Judea-Christian culture of free market society.
well I won’t complain about our “26, feels like 13 with windchill” temp then : ) BUT I do have a puppy, which means I have to stand around waiting for him to do biz in it. He can’t be trained to the electric fence until he’s 6 mo. and he’s NOT doing well with the housetraining, so I have to actually SEE him produce something outside, and can’t take his word for it. Monday he starts puppy kindergarten. He is completely continent, can stay for 9-10 hours in the laundry room without accidents, but when he is in the kitchen/fam room with us, he will pee at will and poop too if i’m not constantly observing him to pluck him up and out when he starts sniffing. Julius is a saint— he was a cinch with housetraining, and he is the ideal big brother bc he lets this little @$$pain just abuse him mercilessly when they play. but I do recall him being a difficult puppy such that I had someone coming to the house to train him as soon as I could, rather than waiting for puppy K. Jules had private lessons until we got him into the puppy bootcamp at Old Towne School for Dogs. We have never had two boy dogs at the same time before, but they carry on like two teenaged boys and are very loud.
we won’t get near freezing either. the cold weather seems to amp the dogs up. they were running around outside like nuts chasing leaves in the wind.
think you are giving an ANTONYM there, robt... ; )
Need a “b” to change Gruber to Grubber
This aptonym makes liberals blubber
Six million, plus fame
Yet they don’t know his name
Obamacare, the grubber did *slubber
*slubber, last Friday’s WFTD:
To do lazily, imperfectly, or coarsely.
Ooo, it’s up to 19. The outdoor heater system to keep the chooks water thawed is running so I won’t have to run out there every hour to dump ice and refill the bowl.
i’d haul them all into the garage!
The guy in charge of our spare parts operation in Europe is named “Holdstock.”
I want to make this the first WOTD thread to have two posts pulled...
My wife and daughter set up the heated water bowls last week. We’ve got some heaters and tarps going. And the Christmas lights.
LMAO!
At least, that's my take on the usage.
Before Thanksgiving??? Take them down before Easter, willya?
No, the Christmas lights we use on the coops to provide some extra light for the chickens. To supplement the loss of daylight and keep their production up.
We are letting the Alpha flock go natural, but are stimulating the Betas and Gammas.
bet they are feeling festive ; )
