OK, did Fuddy make it so NO one (more than just the sunahara and ah nee families) can get copies of their long form b.c.’s?
If so, then there’s a HUGE problem:
It means that nobody born in Hawaii can get a high level security clearance.
In order to get those, one needs to have documented:
Proof of who their parents were
Proof of where their parents were born
Proof of whether parents were citizens or not
(if not citizens, need further documentation that wouldn’t be on birth cert, would need naturalization docs etc)
Without the long form cert, that clearance app goes NOWHERE, because in the case of parent(s) being foreign born, they have to check further than in the case of parents being born here.
They check EVERYTHING about a person, to see if they have any “foreign entanglements” so to speak.
That’s why they need to know the parental background.

In light of the info above, have there been any instances of Hawaiian born folks not being able to get their clearances because they can’t get their long form birth certs?
Short form, long form, a note in the margin of some unknown book or any bit of paper with the Health Director’s seal and rubble stamped signature appears good enough for everything these days. Heck, even a obvious forgery is good enough for the highest level of security.
