There must have been worse. The Finns claimed 32 Soviet aircraft shot down for every Brewster lost. They had dozens of aces...one of the aircraft had over 40 kills...
Or maybe it was just because they were Finns. Consider Simo Häyhä, for example.
Worse- The SB2C Helldiver comes to mind. Late, over budget and trouble prone the helldiver was also known as “son of a bitch, second class”. I’d forgotten about the Finns success with the buffalo, though. I just remember the mauling they took at Midway. After that they were pulled from frontline service.

I heard his interview on BBC.
A Fokker came from my underside and I shot him down, did a loop and shot another one from my right side, 3 more Fokkers came out of the clouds...etc...etc...etc..
A very nervous BBC announcer wiped his brow and said “A Fokker is a German Aircraft etc etc”
“NO NO”, the ace interrupted
“ALL THOSE FOCKERS WERE MESSERSCHMITT’s”
