Actor Norman Reedus berates reports saying that he is against his 'The Walking Dead' character Daryl Dixon to become a homosexual.
Reedus has just become a victim of irresponsible journalism and misquoting, just like many celebrities. According to a report by Inquisitr, the actor does not welcome the idea of playing a gay role in the mega hit zombie survival series.
Inquisitr reported that Reedus had urged the producers to avoid making Daryl gay, as it this might hurt The Walking Dead's ratings.
"Insiders say he fears the same-sex shocker would hurt ratings by disappointing his legions of female fans. Norman isn't anti-gay in his personal life, but he's become one of the biggest male sex symbols in television," the report says.
Reedus took it to Twitter to slam the report, and even included a link of the said article.
In the October issue of GQ magazine, he revealed that he has spoken to TWD creator, Frank Darabont, about the possibility of Daryl being "unsure" with the matters of the heart despite his intense survival skills. Reedus commented that this kind of twist will surprise people and make the show and his character even more interesting.
"[Darabont said] Well, he's prison gay like, you'll catch him looking at a member of the same sex, but if you mention it to him, he'll just stab you and be like what the f**k?he will never admit it.' I was like, 'That'll blow minds let's do that.' And he said, 'I knew I hired you for a reason," explained Reedus in the GQ interview.
Additionally, if this happens, that sound you will hear will be the sound of one million American coochies snapping shut.
Cleaned up my facebook comment and logged it here. :)
Carol is my favorite character. Her transformation from meek victim to dangerous pragmatist with a tortured soul has been awesome in the character development category.
SOMEONE SET UP THE SHOW THE BOMB IDEA!!!!
As have I. Enough of the "in your face" programming.
If 2% of the population is gay, why is 25% of everything they make gay??
Yeah you re probably right. I mean just from a practical point of view there are 6 women in the group and if half of them are gay there isn’t going to be much baby making going on with turkey basters in such short supply.
This article is illiterate rubbish. Darabont hasn’t even been involved with the show since the first season.
The thing about Hollywood is they’re not actually attempting to do anything to advance gay people. The only gays they’re putting on are the flamboyant parade-gay types like Ross Matthews. To me, it’s not funny, it’s just annoying. Hollywood is laughing AT them, not WITH them. This goes clear back to the Three’s Company days. The whole plot line of Jack Tripper pretending to be gay to be roommates with two women was just an excuse to line up fag jokes all the time. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Nowadays it more subtle. Hollywood just throws them up there to get laughed at. The gays that don’t talk with a lisp and don’t pound out the sexual one-liners every 5 seconds need not apply.
They’re upsetting the gays who see this. They’re upsetting those of us who are sick of seeing this crap shoved at us constantly. As usual, they think they’re doing a service when they’re making nobody happy.
The world according to zombie garp....they could morph them into a bunch of Ellen Jamesians who hate men
I wish Merle hadn’t died but he did go out on a high note saving everyone else.
It would be a shark jumper I guess.
How many people watch this show?
:-D
Yes, this is shocking, I tell you, SHOCKING!
He ‘comes out’ and it is the end of the show for me.
Done.
Me too. Great way to blow up the show and kill it's ratings.
Yup. As much as I love the show, I’d stop right there.
Sounds to me like Reedus wants Daryl to be gay. Maybe Reedus himself is gay. That would explain why he wants to play a gay character.
The So. Ca. culture is completely fag loving that straight guys have to pretend to be gay...........
There’s absolutely no compelling reason to. None.
If they do, that’s it for me. It’s bad enough they felt they had to have lesbian characters.
