This is just speculation on my part, but I think Daryl is with a new character. I don't think he's with Carol or Beth.

I say Daryl found the black man that saved Rick in the first episode. Warren? Can't remember his name. He's the man that had the breakdown when his kid was killed.

Also, look at the last three shows, they show him lurking in the woods too.
