I suspect that the Bowie knife validity will be in doubt, but who knows. Uber cool if it is the real thing, but how did it survive for some collector to get it?

They have pics on Yahoo, and there is one of Collins holding what looks like the Musso Bowie, with the S shaped guard and the brass back strap. But, as you said, who knows? Collins says it belonged to Jesse Robinson, in Bowie’s command.

I think a lot of these items came from the de la Pena family. He was there and his diary said Crockett surrendered. That diary has pretty much been discredited.

The article said Collins turned the artifacts over to the Land Commissioner. The Alamo is owned and operated by the Daughters of the Texas Revolution. At least is was the last time I was there. And I’ve been there at least 10 times and would love to go another ten times. It simply fascinates me. Of course, it could be that my wife is a descendent of the heroes who died there.
