Sez you. Cats don't need hand outs. They can survive without you and me. A domestic dog would be dead in a week. My cat would be subject to a VAT because of added value. He provides a valuable service, in addition to being fun to hang around, in that he slays rodents and spiders, AND he serves as an invisible djinn/shadow person/ghost detector.
The dog is fun, too, and he at least barks when people/bears/coyotes/foxes come around for the chickens, but mostly it's like having a 5 year old child lacking in common sense (porcupines, rolling in piles of cow shit) that you have to constantly care for. He's like a dem.
