Ruger 454 Casull is my trail gun and berry picking gun. Marlin 45/70 lever action and 12ga pump make good house guns.

You did a great job on those grips.

I made a set for my Unique Model L in .22LR. It is actually a very fine pistol but the original plastic grips broke. I cut out two blanks from the side of a dead TV. The plastic in the TV was perfect for grips. Tough, durable and fairly easy to carve.

I didn’t do near the job you did but functionally they are perfect.

Over 700 lbs. of muzzle energy and perceived recoil was less that some 9's I've fired

I decided against .380, .357, and .40. I didn’t see them as different enough from 9mm as a lighter round or .45 for a heavy bullet.

I have .308, but forgot to list it. It’s a nice caliber (especially silenced, bolt action) and it seems to do everything I could ask from a big bore rifle. I don’t need another rifle between the .22 LR and the .308.

I shoot and reload. I’m set for 45 and even carried a SW 625 loaded with hard cast 45 super as a trail gun up until now.

This is a little lighter and was an excuse to play with a new caliber. I’ll reload for it so ammo isn’t a problem. Other than brass, component are easy to find. I even found a pound of Blue Dot yesterday.

I’m thinking about getting a 40 S&W barrel for the gun just because I can get brass for free and not worry about chasing it down at the range.

I thought about that. I reload and decided to the the G20 and buy a 40 S&W barrel for cheap practice ammo.

45 auto ammo and component are getting pretty expensive. I have a friend at the police range that is supposed to bring me a bag of 40 brass. I haven’t seen free 45 brass in ages.

Although I have to admit, I’d like the idea of a 45/10 combo over a 10/40 combo.

I’m very happy, my boy showed up after dark and was very disappointed he missed out on shooting it.

You should go into business selling them. "Get your new replacement grips now. As seen on TV!"

Let me know if you find one-I’ve lusted for one for years now. Saw where someone makes a Glock pistol-conversion but not sure if it’s available in 10MM and I don’t particularly care for it’s looks.

I figure it’s the closest thing to one of the old Ruger .44 Auto-mags. Nearly everyone I’ve spoken with that has owned one has loved it.

I’m sure they’re a terrific gun, but I probably wouldn’t own one. If it ever hits the fan, where are you gonna easily find 10mm ammo?

Given the ammo shortages since Obama came to office, you won't find ANY ammo.

Basic common sense: keep enough ammo around for each caliber of gun you may need in SHTF. A thousand rounds seems right. With that much, in a SHTF situation, you will more likely run out of luck before you run out of ammo.

I’m not aware you can convert 10mm to 40cal. I thought your options were 45acp to 10mm or 40cal to 9mm and 357sig.

The magazine for 10mm fits in a 45acp but I don’t think a 40cal magazine fits in the 10mm. 357sig ammo fits in a 40 cal magazine but you need a 9mm magazine to convert 40cal to 9mm if you follow.

I had that same gun ages ago. It was my favorite gun to pull out at the range after the sun had set.

I wanted something light and the most likely threats are two legged, mountain lion and black bear. Maybe a small brown bear but I have never seen one yet. If there were more brown bears, I probably would have put up with the extra weight of the 44.

Are you in Alaska?

I don’t think I’ll see a predator over 400 pounds in my neck of the woods.

Although, I did show my wife the Marlin 40/70 and hinted it would make a nice Christmas present.

I was never a Glock guy in the past but I’ve got to admit getting that bore down sure makes it a pleasure to shoot.

photo DSC00119_zpseca54e97.jpgAs I said, I am no craftsman but the grips are functional as is the pistol. When I walk around my yard or the nearby woods, it is often the gun I put in my pocket.

I busted the grips on a p220 european release. I sure wish I had your skill, I’d fix that eye sore.

Just curious, how is the rise when you shoot 10mm in a government model?

Yeah, a couple of manufacturers make G20 barrels in 40S&W, 357 sig and 9mm long.

I know you use the 10 mm mag for 40 S&W and 357 sig. It’s supposed to work like a charm.
