Sarcastic, yes, but the fact is that few SSBNs were named after people. The Sam Nunn was named after one of the stauchest naval supporters in the senate. It has always been the case since WW I to name destroyers after American heroes, Farragut, John Paul Jones, The Sullivans, etc.
Nunn not as much as John Stennis or Richard Russell.
Carter latched onto Nunn for his political “lie—ife” Carter a fraud- and Nunn a beltway bandit. Now his lib daughter continues the ruse.
