Yes, I wrote about it in my book “Trident,” but these are ssBns, not attack subs, SSNs. I wonder why the Navy with the Virginia class SSNs began naming attack subs for states, not cities.

Naming convention started to vary widely after the 688 and Ohio Class subs.

Prior to the 688 I think all Fast Attacks were named for fish or sea creatures.

Now they name these machines after cities, states, politicians.

Soon we will have the USS Micheal Jackson.

Of note.... Walt Disney designed the logo for my first boat
