Chicago is coarser than other cities. In other cities the programming will be more delicate and not display the Democrat Votes that are registered when someone votes Republican. Republican votes will be properly displayed even as Democrat votes are tallied.

I always wonder how one knows that their mail in ballot was properly put thru the machine, or put thru the machine at all, or if the ballot has already been adjusted to make you think you're voting one way when in fact, the candidates names have been reversed....

we're in a no win situation no matter what...
