I'm old enough (sadly) to remember the bound feet of women in NYC’s Chinatown in the 1960s. They looked pretty ugly to me but then my toes are all misaligned due to crazy stiletto heels and super narrow toes.
I would NEVER go into a Chinese restaurant kitchen in Chinatown after visiting their restrooms, lol.
Their cuisine is wonderfull, though.

Their food was good. I don't eat it any more.
It is also LOADED with msg. That is a most useful taste enhancer.

My toes have been "retrained" by these wonderful squooshy toe separators. I wear them on both feet, between the big and second toes. They have, over the years, re-aligned my feet, finally.
I taught yoga for 27 years and aligned my body so that I am in good shape now, overweight, but good shape. I go to Weight Watchers for THAT. :o)

Toes do straighten out, don’t they? My feet almost look normal after years of deformity. But then my feet and legs in stockings in high heels looked fabulous, lol! And now they look like Hillary Clinton’s. I hate trade-offs!

I still order in my beloved Chinese. That damned MSG will kill you, though. They’ve cut back on that in the last 20 years, I think. At least, I haven’t had a migraine since eating beef with broccoli...

Koreans use MSG too. I think they knows its not good for them but sometimes you just need to use the shaker of MSG
