I estimate that a publisher charges about 3 times what their cost is. I estimate that based on the fact that as a writer, I can get a 40% discount. So I have to figure that they are still making some pennies on every copy they sell me.

$700,000 + publishing cost (200,000 x $6.00 printing cost) - (($18.33 (Amazon hard cover price) x 945 = $17,321.85)) =

$1,900,000 - $17,321.85 =

a $1,882,678.20 loss.

Add to that Simon & Schuster’s $10 million loss with Hillary’s book, “Hard Choices.”

I feel somebody’s gonna get promoted over these fiascos!
