Andrew Jackson embraced the moniker, "Andrew Jackass", bestowed upon him by a Republican back in the days when Republicans actually had the balls to fight back against DemocRATS and DemocRATS had a sense of humor.
Republican Party was formed in 1854, so someone else hung the tag on Jackson, probably the Whigs
