So even a small sunspot like this can’t cause any problems?

I wouldn't be able to anticipate any effects here on Earth from a coronal mass ejection. Maybe you might not be able to receive far-away AM radio stations at night for a little while. That's just a guess.

If there's anything unusual about this sunspot, it's that for quite a long time the Sun has been devoid of sunspot activity.

That we're seeing sunspots again is sort of a return to what we'd long been used to.
