Considering he left their apartment barfing, it would seem his family would’ve been close to him during his *highly contagious* period.

Also I am sure the ambulance people wouldn't have arrived wearing protective gear.
So several more ambulance people were closely exposed.
I get the impression that ebola is hard to spread, or we have to wait beyond 21 days to see if their are any repercussions beyond those 2 nurses. - tom

Absolutely true.

However, Youngor Jallah, Duncan's stepdaughter who had called 911 ("my daddy is going to the bathroom constantly"), upon greeting them at the door, told them to suit up before entering, because of "the virus."
