The name SARAH is quite LIBERAL. While the names RONALD and TED are conservative.

Since I've never heard of anyone with the first name of Doyle, and Natasha is also rare, I'm surprised they're at the top of the lists. A lot of the other male names sound like "good old boy names" (Buddy, Bud, Virgil, Homer, Orville) that I'd expect to find on the list. Others (Billy, Tommy, Jimmy) are just common names, period.

The women's list makes a lot of sense - Jessica, Hillary/Hilary, Meg/Meghan, Erica, Kate, and - of course - Eve.

Lamar!?

How much did he pay to get his name on the conservative side of the list?

Several of the men's names are today very rare names, found mostly in highly traditional rural areas, usually as family heirloom names. Makes sense that they'd be conservative. I think in my life I've known one Doyle and two Eldon's, farmers/farm kids all. Don't believe I've ever met a Lamar, Vern, Orville, Dudley, or Homer. I grew up not far from Gus Grissom though I never knew him, so I'll invoke hometown privilege and claim one Virgil. I've got Duane's and Hoyt's in the family and was a bit surprised they didn't make the list.

The girls names don't make a lot of sense. I see nothing especially liberal about Kate, Katherine, Abigail, Abby, Meg, Jessica, etc. The only Roslyn I've ever known was a farm gal, very conservative. And the only Gabrielle I know is the daughter of Cuban refugees; I've never talked politics with her, but the type is generically, severely anti-communist.

I’m not buying that.

A more liberal name would be “Sharkeshia” for a woman and “Treyvon” for a man.
