An email sent out to the Alcon staff by its CEO reportedly said that the ebola nurses boyfriend was admitted into hospital with Ebola-like symptoms.
Gotnews.com has received word from two different Alcon employees, both of whom asked not to be identified.
Alcons U.S. headquarters are in Fort Worth, Texas. It is an opthomological pharmaceutical company....

Symptoms start when virus levels in the blood are still quite low, so the Liberian wasn't "very" contagious through casual contact until after he was being treated. The nurse was treating the patient in his last few days, when there were literally millions of times as much of the virus in his blood. Her risk was far higher. As for the nurse's boyfriend, I would assume he had extended contact (an hour or more of continues unprotected contact?) with this extremely cute nurse in a manner that could transmit the virus - when her virus levels were low but the contact time could make up for that low level. Transmission to him makes sense.
Support the spread of ebola and enterovirus...vote DEMOCRAT on Election Day.
Don’t U.S. Governors have the authority to ban people travelling in from these countries? Why is it a federal issue?
US airlines could easily stop flights in and out of the hot zone to cut down on some of this but noooooooo, they like the $$$$$$ too much. If our airlines would, that would send a huge message to other countries to maybe do the same. It’s crazy Brussels couldn’t care less they’re a major hub for Ebola.
We can’t even keep Louise or Snyderman in their houses. The 6th largest city in the US under quarantine is laughable.
Only fries the brain of dying victims. Survivors may have no lasting damage but if they have damage it will probably be to the kidneys and liver.
They will have a better than 50% chance, and there chances will be increased simply by having the right IV and oral hydration and minerals. Virus inhibitors will help. But mostly it is up to each individual and how their immune system reacts. The virus attacks the imnune system in various ways so immune system strength is not the key factor, but rather the particular way the immune system reacts.
there -> their
We don’t (honestly) know if the Duncan apartmentmates/relatives HAVE or HAVE NOT shown any symptoms because they have been quarantined and have not had ANY media coverage (convenient how HIPAA works). They could ALL be healthy, showing symptoms, or dead. We won’t know Obola media won’t ask.
Ebola: Brussels Airport still not checking passengers from west Africa
http://townhall.com/news/world/2014/10/13/france-considers-airport-screening-for-ebola-n1904597
PARIS (AP) France and other European countries are considering following the lead of the U.S. and Britain to start screening passengers arriving on flights from the West African countries hit hardest by the Ebola outbreak.
The French presidency said in a statement Monday that Francois Hollande discussed the possibility of starting screening passengers from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone during a phone call with U.S. President Barack Obama.
France will also accept a request by Guinean authorities to set up additional Ebola treatment centers, the presidency said. France is already building one such center in Guinea.
In Brussels, the EU announced health officials will hold a meeting on Thursday to see where they can cooperate better to contain the disease. EU spokesman Frederic Vincent said they would especially center on whether there is a need to check passengers at EU airports.
Wait til the 4,000 service men start infecting everyone in our military and ISIS comes HERE TO OUR SOIL...
bump to that
bump
Thanks,
I’m heartened to see there are some here who still appreciate common decency.
Thanks - I was about to quit last night after getting bombarded by Mitt haters.
Alcon: Worker Being Monitored for Ebola Virus
A medical company worker who was in contact with a nurse recently diagnosed with the Ebola virus is being monitored for symptoms of the virus at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, according to a statement issued by the company.
The patient is an associate of Alcon a Fort Worth medical company specializing in eye-care products and was admitted to the hospital Oct. 12, according to a statement from the company. The associate has not shown any signs or symptoms of the Ebola virus.
Texas Health Presbyterian is monitoring the patient based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocol.
Alcon officials said they are confident that there is no risk for their associates after a consultation with the Texas Department of Health. They are taking all necessary measures and working with both the state and CDC to ensure they are following public health measures.
The nurse diagnosed with the Ebola virus, Nina Pham, was part of the team treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first patient with the Ebola virus in America. Pham is believed to be the first person to contract the virus in the United States.
Due to privacy, the company has not released the name of the associate.
I guess because it is our state department handing out visas and passports like Halloween candy to people from Ebola hot zones right now. It is the FAA, Customs and TSA who are in charge of letting them in. All federal departments. Not sure what a state could do but they should at least try if Obama continues this insanity.
Isn’t it strange how much energy honorable people spend arguing over dishonorable politicians?
I’m probably as hard as it comes in political polemic, but I draw the line at making fun at the expense of innocents. I also try to avoid ad-hominem, but sometimes fail when my Irish gets the best of me.
We can vehemently disagree on politics, strategy and candidates, but if we abandon all decency, we are truly lost.
I suspect they’ll keep the military infected over there and NOT bring them home unless they’ve recovered.
