A London hospital was totally unprepared when a suspected Ebola patient walked into A&E, it was claimed today.
Health authorities have carried out high-profile drills in a bid to show that Britain is ready for the feared arrival of the disease.
But an insider at Lewisham hospital said the response when a potential case walked into casualty on Saturday night shows the reality of the situation is much worse.

What was your crusade? Just curious.
The only way to be protected is to wear a level 4 biohazard suit and be washed down at different locations. And then it’s not 100%.
I saw a report on the local Houston news yesterday where the reporter put something on her gloves that glows under ultraviolet light. She then removed the gloves exactly the way the expert told her to. The light showed the substance all over her arms.
Youre such a hero, after you.
You mean besides bleeding internally, into your gut, out your eyes and sometimes from your pores?
Yet, our CDC claims any ol’ podunk hospital can handle Ebola. Never mind those hospitals don’t have Level 4 facilities, equipment and trained personnel. If this spreads, there will be US healthcare workers who will walk off the job and refuse to treat suspected cases. The reason we have to send troops and doctors to Liberia is because their hcw have quit. IIRC, a month ago there were only like 50 Liberian doctors still working. And today they were going to go on strike though that may be smoothed over.
BSL designations only apply to research laboratories. There is no equivalent grading system for health care facilities.
I would do it, I have no love for this world.
What’s the walkie-talkie for. To let everybody know that, yeah, we’re screwed...
No affiliation, but here's an example of one
Ditto, back at ya.

My late uncle was a cop for many years. He quit the day he realized he was more comfortable dealing with the scum than with normal people.
He always told me most cops have more empathy for criminals than for civilians. They view the criminals as playing the same game (but from a different side).
It can eat our your soul.
Doctors are supposed to fight disease. Doctors freaking out at infectious disease is like soldiers freaking out at being deployed to a combat zone.
Man (or woman) up.
NO - it is NOT the responsibility of the world to be FORCED to take care of Africans or anyone else for that matter.
Doctors nurses and paramedics do. They get coughed on and risk TB.
They get bled on and risk Hep C and aids. They blow their backs out moving the morbidly obese. They get threatened and assaulted by crazies drunks and addicts. Non of us signed up to deal with a completely avoidable plague that can bring death to our families.
I once packed the bleeding nose of an aids patient. Took me thirty minutes and when I was done my gown and face mask was covered from head to toe in a fine pink mist. When I finished he asked how long the packing needed to stay. I told him three days. He responded “ I’m taking it out, I work as a bar tender and I can’t go to work like this.” I told him if he did he could bleed to death somewhere else I wasn’t risking my life and my wife’s repacking his nose.
And what risks does Mr Lawyer take? Paper cuts? Eye strain?
When you have a MANLY job you can lecture us to man up.
Seconded.
The nurse on the right looks like she has three pancakes on top of her head.
Yeah, buddy, I am a mom. I risked my life giving birth, is that good enough for you? I also served in the military, although it was a cush job in the JAG. Nonetheless, if called to help in my field, I wouldn’t be a coward, you may depend upon that, my fine feathered friend. Now deal. Since you are a flight surgeon, do something.
Wow. What a hero.
Don’t get hurt writing a brief.
Maybe you can go to your local hospital and lecture the staff to quit whining. Make sure you impress remind them of what Christian you claim to be.
