Happy Thanksgiving (everyone)!

The missus has been at our place in Oregon since July so I'm all by myself here in NM this holiday, and as such I'll go down to the local casino in a few hours and feast on their always splendid holiday buffet, they always have for the convenience of empty nesters and the many oil field people who are here without family.

Prime rib will be the order of the day but there will also be turkey, and ham, and everything that goes with it, plus desserts galore, and a fountain of Mosquito (or maybe that's Sangria, ain't zactly sure).

I will eat til it hurts (probably), then return home and fire up the ham radio station and join the annual qrz.com Turkey Day Net, chatting with some folks I know from the online forum, all over the country. Too bad FR doesn't have one of those, THAT would be REAL FUN.

(And I have some sweet red and a summer sausage put up for snacking later in the day, IF I get hungry again before morning.)

So,it'll be a good time!

(Then back to work tomorrow.)

My sister just texted me a pic of a turkey she just pulled out of her smoker, looks delish!

How fun! I’m sorry you’re alone, but it looks like you can keep the lonely at bay for a while.

Prime rib sounds good!

The turkey went in last night, slow cooked.

I had a BiL that sat at a desk all day, so when he came home at night, he would lean against a door jamb, or a bare space on a wall, just because it felt good. So I understand that and I agree!

Dang, jumped right out of her clothes, well our lady did not do that TG. But still, the sight wasn't pretty, and while she needed some comforting it was very hard not to laugh.

I performed an autopsy on our unit and determined the failure was from an external cause.

My guess was that a neutral wire had lifted in a main circuit going to the unit, causing a return path from the building load, or part of it, to go through to the chassis of the APC. Our building is not old so I called the company who wired it to come and inspect, and they reported nothing wrong.

I was not convinced and sure enough, our replacement APC did the exact same thing a couple months later.

Again I had the electricians come out and eventually they found what I told them to find, and they fixed it and we haven't had any more trouble.

Yet.

Too bad the company that did the plumbing in our building is defunct. Or maybe its a good thing. On a number of occasions I have come to the store to discover many gallons of water laying around where it didn't belong (rolling out from under the front door, for example), and just last Friday as we were closing up, a major burst happened which would have been more major if it happened just five minutes later.

Life in boomtown, it is what you get, and proof that the unemployment rate can be TOO LOW in some places and times.

When I have the rare opportunity to cook a turkey, I, too, cook it all night. But first, I slather it with mayo and turn it breast-side down. Tender, juicy and moist!

We always had our dinners around 1 or 2, as well. Later than that and I get full, just from smelling the food cook!

It'll be good, and over Christmas I am going up to Oregon and the day after, WE are coming back to NM.

She just needed some time away from here, THIS PLACE is somewhat GRITTY, and it will eat you up if you let it.

I will eat soon, but have no leftovers, except for pie and whipped cream. The diet will suffer today, but I’ve been good for two days, so maybe the calories will even out.

I’m looking forward to eating...

We’ll eat in less than half an hour. We’re waiting for guests of the Chronically Late variety. I had a nice nap with Jake while the turkey cooked.
