My neighbor just told me about the vet clinic she takes her dog to, and they have two cats at $40...spayed, chipped and all shots. One is three yrs and one is about a year, and I will go up on my way to do errands and take a look.

This morning I was given a basket that will make an excellent cat bed, and all I have to do it make a cover for it with an opening. Excellent!

I’ll keep you posted on this.

I’m not ready to buy anything, yet, but I will consider all options. Right now, I’m going to go wait for the mail.

I’ve done all I want to in the way of work this morning (the last two days, actually) and my right leg is hurting, which means bad weather is on the way.

When I get back, I’ll tell you the “news.”

Well, then the sweeter version is to mosy out as they are leaving and introduce yourself and proceed to sweetly talk their ear off. For most people it would only take twice for them to never park in front of your place again.

Unless you make a new friend, which is also good.

My brother once re-gifted the nice puzzle from Muir Woods that we got his family for Christmas. I don’t mind the re-gifting so much, but he gave it back to us.

So now I keep his card and next year I send it back with his name crossed out and my signature.

Sounds good.
Cats are passed out on the front windowsills.

I can't see the parking lot from my apartment, though my front door is 50 feet from my car. If I look out my security door (too cold for that, now) I see a 6' high picket fence around my patio.

My solution has been to park behind the offender, leaving enough room for them to get out. It works, most of the time. Except for the one dingbat preacher who was very un-Christ-like about it all. He doesn't park in this lot any more, but he is parking wherever he wants in the other lot, and making a whole batch of new enemies.

Some people are here to be a bad example. Or allow us to practice patience. Or dust the ceiling fans. Or something.

I worked on some cards. Soon it will be time to get Kathleen up. Maybe it will be dry enough for her to go to the playground.

I was just out at the remada catching up on the gossip. One older lady fell on her face again (her legs are weak from being in a scooter for so long) and another had a stroke. They are next door neighbors. I don’t know what’s going to happen with either of them, since I was too cold to stay.

I try to recall a Lakota proverb when dealing with ugly people: “Let the wind blow through you.” Followed almost immediately by, “Life is too short to dance with ugly men.”

Between the two, I manage to keep a fairly even keel...except for inconvenient surprises...

What is the latest on your dad?

Mom said he had a peaceful night last night. She has Marie from Haiti on nights still, and “Katherine” on days. The fact that she’s emailing every day shows that things have calmed down a lot.

We’ve either got thunder or large construction equipment.

I didn’t go look at cats, because I don’t have anything for them. If I don’t feel too woozy tomorrow after the MRI, I’ll go look.

While I was at Walmart, I priced the small dog beds which will fit in the basket just fine. I also priced cat food (wet and dry) and a few other things (but not a litter box or litter) and decided within a couple of months, I can get a cat, after I get all the stuff to make it feel at home.

I may go up tomorrow and look, and just have them take my name and number so they can alert me to cats that have been abandoned. And I DID buy two little .97 cent toys! A start, as it were, on being owned by a cat! LOL!

One thing I want for sure for the cat is a “Sherpa”-lined “crackle” bag! I think it would be a good place for a cat to be!

I got the 5-qt jug of oil, and didn’t like the way it looked in the cargo hold, so I stuck it in an insulated “Trader Joe’s” grocery tote bag! Deception!

The problem with buying things for cats is that you never know what they’ll like. Jake didn’t like the dog bed until we put a baby blanket in it. Shannon didn’t like it until we got her one of her own and put it in the sunroom. Both of them would rather shred our papers than play with cat toys.

You have to have a box and litter, though!

I’m so glad your dad has day and night care. I’m sure your mother is relieved, as well. And how are you, being so far from what’s going on?

It sounds like you need a daily hug, so here’s one...*HUG*
Now. Feel better!

It’s been an iffy day with the weather... hazy overcast, then puffy clouds, then clear, then rinse and repeat. And cold. Last year at this time, there were no leaves on the trees, and the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, it began to rain, and rained steadily for five days. We still have leaves on the trees and no rain in sight — I hope.

I feel better! I have to put my card-making supplies away and get Kathleen up.

How I’m doing is, everything I have to. I try not to think about it, because falling apart, even briefly, wouldn’t do anything but make my nose run (and upset Frank).

I don’t know how I missed pricing the litter and boxes! I did see something a few weeks ago on Facebook that looked liked it could be modified for a litter box. It was a “cat house” for feral cats, and consisted of a Styrofoam cooler turned upside down, with a bed of straw and a door cut in the end. I will have to think on it and price the ones in the store, along with the coolers.

We had a cat who preferred paper bags and cardboard milk boxes (the kind you got at the commissary with six half-gallon cartons of milk in them) and shunned a real bed. He slept at the foot of our bed, but that was probably because we had an electric blanket, and the foot of the bed has the most heat tape.

He was happiest with things that made noise, like my son’s slot cars, as well as balls and yarn. He was strange...he liked green peppers and cantaloupe.

While I was looking at thank you cards, I saw the blank cards you send periodically, and was sorely tempted...until I saw the price. *gasp* I found something less expensive but also less appealing...

Sometimes, we just do what we need to do because it’s what needs to be done at the time. That may not make sense, but thinking about something that is scary has a tendency to induce fear, and when one is afraid, one is paralyzed, inside and out.

I was lucky because I grew up not knowing fear, so my approach to some things isn’t what people expect. On the other hand, CFIDS “modified” that lack of fear and turned it into anxiety and panic attacks which are totally alien to me and scary in themselves.

We had a Siamese whose favorite snack was corn on the cob. Pets are weird, like Ash with the chickpeas.
