There is a term for this. It is called catfishing. The practice is so foul it became the subject of television shows and even a movie. Somehow the creators of this video missed this.

The comparison to men and women’s reactions is pointless. Men are visual and a lie like this can easily be taken personal. A more realistic comparison should have been done with a poor man pretending to be a millionaire. Women are much more likely to sympathize with weight issues. All this video proves is that men react much more harshly about being lied to.

I get the comparison. But would a woman be openly rude to a man who claimed to be a millionaire and turned out to be a janitor? Probably not. Would a man be rude to a woman who claimed to be thinner and turned out to be heavier? Mmmm. Maybe more so. Let’s be honest.
