1) he did not undergo a second surgery
2) he is on a respirator and cannot breathe on his own
3) finger pointing already going on as to why the race was run when the helicopter was unable to fly

Accidents today are not a simple event, they have become a complicated series of failures occurring in a fast paced environment. This makes it very difficult to prevent. The level of permutations becomes the issue in achieving greater safety.
